Your PS5 might already have VRR, no new update required

Sony announced on Monday that the PS5’s Refresh Rate (VRR) model will begin rolling out this week, and has already started rolling out to some people (through HDTV test Youtube). If your TV supports the feature, VRR can actively adjust the level of refresh on the screen, which can make games feel easier to play with scratch and a little beat. While some games will be updated to support the feature, Sony also has a switch that will apply VRR to unsupported games.

If the VRR feature is ready for you, you will be able to see it in the Settings menu on the PS5. Go to Screen and Video, Video, and then scroll down to the VRR section. Although Sony said on Monday that the feature will come with an update, nothing new has been downloaded. When I first turned on the PS5 this morning, the VRR component was not there, but after I restarted my device and logged in Astro Playroomit turned out.

Sony said next Monday’s games will get a patch enabling VRR support “in the coming weeks,” and all Insomniac’s PS5 titles already support the brand, according to a supporting document.

  • Astro Playroom
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • Death
  • Destiny 2
  • The Devil Can’t Cry 5 Special Edition
  • Wasakh 5
  • Godfall
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man remade
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Village of Evil
  • Tina’s Amazing Surprise
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six isolation
  • Midgard tribes

My TV, TCL’s 6-Series Google TV, should support VRR, as it has two HDMI 2.1 ports, so I merged the brand. The only game I have that officially supports VRR right now is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apartand it really seemed easy in the Fidelity format.

I also turned the switch to apply VRR unsupported games and jumped Elden Ring and Sifu. I have not noticed any significant differences, but I do not have a large source for body level differences. We may need to wait Digital Foundation that this attribute is passed through its paths to determine its effectiveness.
