Exclusive: Sonos’ next soundbar will be called the Sonos Ray

The announcement of the upcoming Sonos budget will be marketed as Sonos Ray, according to local documents and people familiar with the company’s plans. Expected to cost around $ 249 and continue to sell within a few weeks, Ray will be the cheapest sound for Sonos yet and will serve as a level-choice option under the expensive Beam and Arc flag.

To achieve lower costs, Sonos eliminated features such as built-in mics, Dolby Atmos, and HDMI connectivity; Ray also has fewer speakers than the current company. However, owners of expensive Sonos Arc or Beam will be able to use two Rays as rear speakers. The sound bar is designed to be installed directly for that purpose, and in the right direction, the side-mounted drivers will effectively pass the Atmos sound to the ceiling.

The sound bar lacks integrated mics for voice control, but owners will be able to bring their voice assistant as Sonos’ platform is compatible with the Amazon Echo and Google Nest speakers.
