Since (rather than) facilitating the disaster, pharmacists have come under increasing pressure as people scream for their medicines. This is an issue in the UK where traditional mom-and-pop pharmacies are starting to close and big chains are not keeping up with demand. Problems even cause aggressive attacks by customers.
New start in the UK Sorted, thinks it has the answer by connecting directly to the NHS health care system in the UK to offer itself as a personal pharmacy option, listed in local GP surgeries along with computers. It has so far raised $ 6 million in seed funding for Pear VC and Hoxton Ventures.
Founded in 2019 by former pharmacist Zeinab Ardeshir, PillSorted says it adds automation and personalized service that comes in the mail.
Ardeshir, the general manager and founder, said in a statement: “Ordinary pharmacy experience has long been in need of modernization, and most pharmacists have been reduced to manual, repetitive tasks … they are also able to review medication regularly. “
Pepe Agell, Partner at Pear VC, said; “PillSorted leverages technology to complement and deliver pharmaceutical products while creating personalized and human-centered experiences.”
PillSorted will use the new funding to develop its products and expand its services in London and the UK. It has also started testing the service to support care workers as part of its ongoing integration into social care.
